Quick start
- Create or sign in with a LyraDisplay account (same account as other Lyra products).
- Open MusicReference. Accept a free trial when offered.
- Add a few reference songs you already know well.
- Add one or more My Songs (drafts or productions in progress).
- Use Home or a lens for ranked neighbors; open Compare for 1v1.
You do not need a complete library on day one. Neighbors only come from what you have already described —
the catalog gets more useful as you grow it.
Catalog: references vs My Songs
MusicReference is a private browser catalog with two roles:
- References — benchmarks (hits, favorites, studio exemplars).
- My Songs — work you are writing or producing.
You can change a song’s type later if a draft becomes a reference for something else.
Catalogs are paginated and searchable so large libraries stay manageable.
Song portraits
Matching is driven by a structured song portrait you enter — not by uploading stems or multitracks.
Typical fields include tempo, length, time signature, key, mode, chords, melody contour, instruments,
stereo field, tags, and theme. Completeness cues show where a portrait is thin.
Optionally attach a public listen link (for example a YouTube embed) for context. That link is for listening,
not for scoring.
Matching, Home & lenses
MusicReference ranks neighbors — similar songs from your own catalog — using the fields you filled in.
- Overall score blends the factors you weight in Settings.
- Facet lenses emphasize one dimension (for example harmony or arrangement).
- Similar songs lists stay split by role so references and My Songs stay clear.
- Instrument families and stereo/constellation views help you see arrangement and width at a glance.
This is not a DAW and not a waveform analyzer. Scores come from the portraits you maintain.
1v1 Compare
Open Compare to put two songs side by side — typically a My Song against a reference —
and inspect how they align on the same portrait factors. Use it when a ranked list is not enough
and you need a deliberate decision on one pair.
Settings
- Overall metric weights — dial which factors matter more for your shop.
